I’m a Licensed Clinical Social worker, healthcare executive, board director and advocate for health equity, social justice, and de-stigmatizing mental health. I’m an outdoor enthusiast, animal lover, Picasso wannabe, and firm believer that you can be both a science-based nerd and refreshingly real.

A Little Bit About Me

I’ve spent over 20 years in healthcare (eek, I’m dating myself - shhh, don’t tell). And I’ve worn many hats. Social Worker. Program developer. Senior therapist. Healthcare director. I’ve built five hospital programs from scratch, worked in Level 1 trauma hospitals, and treated patients sitting at the intersection of serious medical and mental health needs.

At UT Health, I developed an innovative psychotherapy program at Memorial Hermann (one of the first of it’s kind at a Level 1 Medical Trauma Hospital). I collaborated with UT Health’s Psychiatry Department to build an Anxiety Clinic, where I developed and wrote the 8-week whole person curriculum from the ground up. My earlier role at UT Health’s Brain and Behavioral Health Clinic under the Neurology Department is where sleep treatment became central to my work. I dabbled in sleep therapy for years prior, but that is where I saw firsthand how much it changes everything when insomnia is finally treated properly.

That’s what brought me here. I opened Eunoia Wellness Counseling in August 2021, I serve as the national Director of Community Engagement at Tissue Health Plus. I sit on the NASW-Texas Board of Directors, representing Region 6 (Houston and the Gulf Coast area).

Education and Licensure

I’m not the therapist who sits there and says “mmm.” I’m in it with you and I expect you to be too.

I’m direct, real and practical. I talk. I give feedback. I ask the hard questions and I won’t let you stay comfortable in patterns that are keeping you stuck. That’s not me being harsh. I’m actually giving a damn about your goals.

I’m also transparent. I may not be the right fit for everyone and that’s okay. If you’re looking for someone to just listen and nod while the clock runs out, I’m not your person. But if you want a therapist who shows up fully, tells you the truth, and challenges you to get more out of this than you thought you could, then lets talk.

I also swear occasionally. Yep, not sorry.

CBT-I is scienced backed and it work but only if you do. I won’t sugarcoat that. Between sessions there’s real work to do, and I’ll hold you accountable to it because that’s how the needle actually moves.

I care about every person I work with. I’m warm with a sense of humor and I’ll bring that to every session. But caring doesn’t mean letting you off the hook. I’ll show up fully for you and I expect the same in return.

Sessions have structure and direction. You’ll always know what we’re working on and why. This is therapy that actually does something.

We’re probably a good fit if…

  • You want a therapist who is honest, direct and won’t let you stay stuck

  • You’re ready to engage, not just show up and see what happens

  • You want real tools and real feedback, not just validation

  • You’re committed to doing the work between sessions

  • You want to actually fix your sleep, not managing it indefinitely

We might not be the right fit if…

  • You’ll looking for a purely passive, non-directive approach

  • You’re not open to feedback or being challenged

  • You’re not ready to actively participate in the process

Eunoia Wellness Counseling

Why Eunoia?

Eunoia (yoo-noy-uh) is a Greek word that means “beautiful thinking.” It captured the feeling I wanted this practice to hold: gentle, grounded, and transformative.

The name was inspired by my betta fish, each of whom I’ve named after Greek figures (you could find them at my clinic desk). The Eunoia Wellness Counseling logo features a betta fish with a lotus flower for a tail; a symbol of healing, rebirth, and new beginnings.

Ready to Begin?
